Private House, Ddôl, Creigiau
Ddôl Creigau is a project for an extension to an existing family home located on the outskirts of Cardiff. The project simply extrudes the existing forms of the home, with a folding roof that sits over a new open plan kitchen and dining area.
A folding roof finishing on a half gable add lofty, light filled spaces which act as a contrast to the low ceilings of the existing house. These new interlocking volumes reconfigure what is currently a problematic arrangement of rooms, into a comfortable family space. The project utilises natural materials within a tight budget to achieve a design that is both calming and functional.
